Don’t Get Whooped!

Well I did. Sorta.

An incident occurred where a person I was helping, who claimed to be a Christian counselor, engaged in some bizarre behavior that resulted in her slapping me. The first time I was thinking “Ooookay, she’s acting strange.” But the second time she hit me the jig was up. Fortunately, it was not in my face or I might have shot off like a cannon. But it was hard and it stung. I was prepared though, because  that morning I was up praying for four hours straight. By the time the incident occurred, I didn’t react but rather responded by simply walking away. After it was all over I thought “Gee Lord, it took you four hours to make sure I maintained my posture?” You can take the girl out of New York but only God can take the New York out of the girl!

A little later I called my good friend and armor bearer in New York and told her about it. She said something very profound, that the woman probably prematurely stepped out into this calling of counseling without God’s endorsement, and whatever those people she prayed for were dealing with “jumped on her” and basically wore the lady down, thus the bizarre behavior. It reminded me of the Seven Sons of Sceva in the book of Acts. They got a can of whoopin’ opened up on them because they were stepping out trying to deal with demons and the demons sent those boys packing. Being overeager to step into a certain calling can cost you big time! If God did not lay it on your heart, don’t move a muscle (especially not the ones in your hands. Lord help muh!). Answer your first calling, which is to be a servant, and based on your effectiveness in that area God will promote you.

Oh yea, I did see the person who popped me again. What did I do?  My mouth said hello but my eyes said, “I didn’t pray for four hours this morning…”! Haha! Y’all pray for me!

Cya!

  1. Wow! Is there a purpose in her coming to you with that?

    • I don’t think the lady knew she was going to hit me. When I reported it, she said she was so happy I was helping her because other people don’t understand her. In her excitement she decided she wanted to show it…Sumo Wrestler Style.

  2. I was done at the picture. LOL. But, yes, thanking God you didn’t provide a very different type of “laying on of hands.” As they say, “Many are called, but few are chosen.” Betting she was neither. Lord help.

    • A very different type of “laying on of hands.” Bwa hahahaha!!! Glad you like the pic. I took it at the scene of the crime, lol!

  3. Professor you are hilarious!!! Good thing you were prayed up. Those may have been the best four hours of your life to date. LoL! He will always make a way of escape or condition you to go through the storm.

    • The lady was conditioned too, in a physical sense that is. Coming from the Latin word “Islappayouface!”

  4. Wow! You better sleep with your shoes on b/c God is getting ready to take you somewhere you have never been.

    • Up up and away, honey!

  5. Honestly, at the present time I don’t envy you ( the hitting is beyond my humanistic psychology). Who knows, He knows!! He had you powered up!!
You get a 4.0 for this incident. Hallelujah any how…
Talk to ya later. I graduate this May. PRAISE the Lord!!!!!!!!

    • God bless you on your upcoming graduation!!!!!!! Praise the Lord is right!

  6. GOD does change us. i use to get mad with my mom because she would always get into with someone , but as i am getting older, i see people do take you there. i do find myself in situations i could just act like my mom but something tells me to be the better person and just walk away. it is very hard since i do come from a family of fighters and killers. i do have to do continual prayer thoughout the day not just once a day :)

    • Hi Tyria! I agree, God does change us and it can be hard to walk away. Thank God you know yourself well enough that you don’t play with it and stay in prayer. Please believe I learned a good lesson, that we can never take our good graces for granted. Even after all these years of being in Christ, the Lord still has to wake me up to make sure I don’t cut the fool!

  7. love the title of the post!

    • Thank you Eva626!
